After a bloody battle, and help from Will Turner, he arrests the remaining pirates.
He has also proposed marriage to the governor's daughter, Elizabeth Swann.Īfter following the stolen HMS Interceptor and the Black Pearl, he and his men engage Hector Barbossa's cursed pirates on the Isla de Muerta. During that time, he crossed paths with Captain Jack Sparrow, who came to Port Royal to steal a ship in his quest to find the Black Pearl. Years later, after serving as Captain Norrington, he would be promoted to Commodore. On their way to Port Royal they stumbled upon a savage shipwreck and found the only survivor (a young Will Turner) drifting on a plank.
He sailed from England with then young Elizabeth Swann and her father Governor Weatherby Swann.
He served as a lieutenant aboard the HMS Dauntless, a vessel he would later command, during the prologue of Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.
